In accordance with new government regulations, the installation of BASWA Acoustical Plaster systems have passed silica testing.

Installation of BASWA Acoustical Plaster systems have been tested by independent BASWA acoustic Certified Installers throughout the United States and have been found to be under the permissible exposure limit (PEL) and action level outlined by OSHA regulation.

About two million construction workers are exposed to respirable crystalline silica in over 600,000 workplaces.

What is Respirable Crystalline Silica?
Crystalline silica is a common mineral that is found in construction materials such as sand, stone, concrete, brick, and mortar. When workers cut, grind, drill, or crush materials that contain crystalline silica, very small dust particles are created.

Why did the regulation change?
OSHA's previous PELs for crystalline silica were adopted in 1971. The previous limits did not adequately protect workers, were outdated based on new research, and inconsistent and hard to understand. The new standard is set forth to better protect workers.
