Fontainebleau Las Vegas lavishly channels beachy textures with fluctuating, custom-textured acoustics.
Designed by the Fontainebleau Development, Carlos Zapata Studio, David Collins Studio, Jeffrey Beers International, Lissoni & Partners, and Rockwell Group, this 67-story luxury resort hotel and casino reflects on the iconic 1950's Fontainebleau Miami with oceanic forms, materials, and patterns. The long-awaited project is the tallest occupiable building in the state, located immediately adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center. This record-breaking resort also boasts the largest, pillarless carpeted hotel ballroom in the US, 550,000 square feet of meeting space, a 150,000 square foot gaming floor, a 55,000 square foot spa,14,000 square foot fitness center, a six-acre pool deck, a theater, and a private club.
Fontainebleau Development worked with several artists to curate exclusive commissioned fine-art pieces that bridge the Nevada desert landscapes to the ocean shoreline. The organic and undulating forms throughout the space unite with the architectural design, including an 18,000 square foot acoustical plaster installation in the resort's lobby; a collaboration between design teams and plaster artisans.
BASWA Installer, KHS&S, hand crafted a stunning texture and customized color in the curved BASWA Phon acoustic system which intentionally varies in each ceiling section, creating rippled sand-like patterns, like tiny dunes formed by waves.
Sustainability in addition to guest experice being a key design intent for Fontainebleau Development, the selection of materials for the lobby ceilings were carefully considered. The BASWA Phon sound absorbing acoustic panels and plaster maintained a serene first impression of the resort through textured marble finishes by minimizing noise pollution. BASWA sources natural, recycled materials such as marble aggregates leftover from marble extraction and glass granulates from recycled glass to produce the most sustainable acoustical plaster available; recycled content comprising 81-95% of the total system.
In addition to fine-tuning acoustics and positively impacting guest wellbeing, BASWA systems offer unlimited design options through texture and color. Global installations include multi-colored limestone, concrete, stucco, and split stone replications. Gradient colors can be acheived in a single seamless surface, on ceilings and walls. The cost for a custom acoustical plaster finish can be calculated in collaboration with the BASWA acoustic team and experienced BASWA Installer network. Custom mock ups and samples are also available to match your needed aesthetic.
After a long hiatus following the project halt in mid-2009, the Fontainebleau Las Vegas Resort and Casino opened in December 2023 and now invites guests to explore it's opulent design and ammenities.
